Nunawading Lions Banners - Celebrate the Lions

Whether it's a milestone game, a debut, or a career achievement worth celebrating, FootyBanners.com creates personalised banners that bring the Nunawading Lions community together. Let us help you celebrate your Lion in style.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banners - all fully customised with your details. For a Single Player banner, provide the player's first name, surname, guernsey number, and their milestone or message. Our permanent, fade-resistant inks and heavy-duty weatherproof paper are made to handle anything Melbourne's eastern suburbs can throw at them.

Two Players, One Banner

Two Lions sharing a milestone on the same game day? Our Two Player Banner puts them both in the spotlight with one brilliant design. Just provide each player's name and guernsey number, and we'll do the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

Honour 3 to 6 of your Nunawading Lions in a single Team Banner - ideal for end-of-season presentations and club nights. Add a bold top-line like "Nunawading Lions - 2025 Season Champions" and a rallying tagline to fire up the whole club.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks built to last for years. Hang yours in the Lions' clubrooms, the garage, or the games room - a proud memento of a Nunawading Lions milestone.

About Nunawading Lions Football Netball Club

Origins and Founding

The Nunawading Lions Football Netball Club was established in 1927 under the name of the Tunstall Football Club. The club's earliest home games were played at the Nunawading Recreation Reserve in Silver Grove, and the team competed in the Box Hill Reporter District Football Association before moving to the Ringwood District Football League. The Nunawading name was adopted when the local area changed its name accordingly. A footnote in Melbourne suburban football history: the "Nunawading Football Club" name was first used in 1894 when the Mitcham, Box Hill, and Surrey Hills clubs briefly merged to play in the Metropolitan Junior Football Association, though that was a separate entity from the current club, which dates its continuous history from 1927.

Club History

The club won its first flag in the 1938 B Grade competition (as the Tunstall FC) and a second B Grade title in 1955. In 1962 Nunawading became a foundation member of the newly established Eastern District Football League, and in the same year won the Under 16 junior premiership. A 1976 Under 17 junior flag and a 1987 Reserves premiership followed, and then in 2002 the club achieved its first senior premiership in 47 years, defeating Heathmont by 93 points in Division 4 to earn promotion to Division 3. The club also won Reserves premierships in 2006 and 2008. Nunawading now competes in the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL), one of Victoria's largest community football competitions.

Home Ground

The Lions play their home games at Koonung Park in Springfield Road, Blackburn North. The club moved to this ground in 1996, choosing it over its previous base at Mahoneys Reserve in Forest Hill because Koonung Park offered social facilities essential to club sustainability. The ground is located within the Koonung Creek corridor and provides a pleasant inner-eastern setting for community football and netball.

Community and Programs

Nunawading FNC operates both football and netball programs, competing in the EFNL and affiliated netball competitions. The club draws its membership from Blackburn North and surrounding eastern suburbs and is known for its inclusive, family-friendly culture. Junior football and Under 19 programs provide pathways into senior competition, and the club's netball arm has run concurrently with football for many decades, cementing its status as a genuine community club within the City of Whitehorse area.

Blackburn North

Blackburn North is a suburb in Melbourne's eastern corridor, located approximately 20 kilometres from the CBD in the City of Whitehorse local government area. At the 2021 Census, Blackburn North recorded a population of approximately 8,500 residents. The suburb is characterised by leafy residential streets and parkland, and it sits adjacent to the Koonung Creek linear reserve, which connects multiple eastern suburbs. The broader Whitehorse area has a long-standing reputation for community sport participation and family-oriented suburban life.

The Lions compete in the EFNL and call Koonung Park, Blackburn North, home. Find out more at nfnc.com.au, follow the club on Facebook, or connect on Instagram at @nunawadingfnc.

  • Footy Banner Information

Material:  All Footy Banners are printed on 1.6 Metre high coated paper using permanent inks which will not run, even if they get wet.  They are fully recyclable.

How to Use:  We recommend taping broomsticks or plastic pipe to the ends of the banner to hold it flat whilst the player runs through it.  If you cut vertical slits in the banner in the centre, it creates a weak spot where it will break and look best when run through.  There are instructions and images for how to cut these in the FAQ section below.

On a windy day, cut smaller vertical slits in the Footy Banner so if the wind catches it, it doesn't rip too soon!  This is why we do not pre-cut them, and also so you can get photographs with your intact banner when it looks at it's best.

Tip: Some players choose to only cut one weak spot in their banner so it can be saved and displayed later by taping it back together on the back.

Pro Tip:  Cut the weak spot to one side of the mascot or team logo so it stays intact as well!

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
