About Park Orchards Sharks Junior Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Park Orchards Sharks Junior Football Club (officially the Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club, PONRPJFC) was formed in 1991 through the merger of two community clubs. The Park Orchards Junior Football Club had been established in 1969 by its first president Mr. J. O'Brien, and over 23 years accumulated 8 premierships while calling Domeney Reserve home. The North Ringwood Parish JFC was established in 1984 under its first president Fr. K. Mogg, claiming one premiership in 1988 (its first year of competition). The two clubs merged in 1991 under the first president of the new entity, Mr. M. Cahill, to form what is today known as the Park Orchards Sharks.

Club History

Since the 1991 merger, the Sharks have built an outstanding record in Melbourne's eastern junior football competitions. The club has won 27 premierships since formation and across both predecessor clubs, and has produced more than 300 players who have played 100 or more games for the club. The Sharks' most celebrated AFL alumnus is Christian Petracca, who was drafted to the Melbourne Demons as Pick 2 in the 2014 National AFL Draft. In 2001 the club launched its Auskick program at Stintons Reserve, which grew to become an award-winning Auskick in the Eastern Region. With increasing player numbers, the club began using Stintons Reserve as a second home ground from 2004, and in 2005 installed floodlighting at Stintons, giving the club two fully equipped venues. In 2026, club product Tate Hodgson was named captain of the Northern Knights U18 Boys squad, reflecting the ongoing pipeline of talent the club produces.

Home Grounds

The Sharks use two grounds as their home venues. Domeney Reserve on Knees Road, Park Orchards has been the club's primary ground since the Park Orchards JFC era in 1969. Stintons Reserve serves as the club's secondary ground, home to the Auskick program and junior matches since 2004. Floodlighting was installed at Stintons in 2005 providing training capacity year-round. The grounds are located within the leafy semi-rural suburb of Park Orchards in Melbourne's outer east.

Community and Programs

The Sharks field junior teams from AusKick (5-12 year olds, running on Friday nights at Domeney Reserve) through to U18 boys and girls teams. The club is a grassroots, community-driven organisation committed to developing well-rounded young Australians through football. The club maintains active social media channels including over 1,000 Facebook followers and around 600 Instagram followers, keeping the Park Orchards community connected with the latest news and results throughout the season.

Park Orchards, City of Manningham

The City of Manningham has a population of approximately 125,821 (2021 census), with Park Orchards contributing to the area's green, low-density character. Neighbouring suburbs include Ringwood North, Warrandyte and Doncaster East.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
