About PEGS Football Club
Origins and Founding
The Penleigh and Essendon Grammarians Football Club, known as PEGS Football Club or simply "Pegs" and nicknamed the Bombers, was founded in 1968 as the Old Essendon Grammarians Football Club (OEGFC). The club was formed by alumni and past pupils of Essendon Grammar School and competed in the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) in its early years. In December 2011 the club was formally renamed the Penleigh and Essendon Grammarians Football Club to reflect the merger of Essendon Grammar School with Penleigh Church of England Girls' Grammar School to form Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School (PEGS).


Club History
PEGS FC has competed across several competitions since its founding in 1968. The club first won premiership honours in 1976, taking the EDFL Division 2 (C Grade) flag, before joining the Footscray District Football League for two seasons from 1983. In 1984 the club joined the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA), where it continues to compete today.
In VAFA competition, PEGS has won premierships in Division 3 in 1986, Division 2 in 1996, and Division 1 in 2017, representing steady progression through the grades. The club fields multiple teams each season, providing competitive football at various levels of the VAFA. The Bombers play home matches at the PEGS Sporting Fields on Wright Road, Keilor Park, adjacent to the Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School campus.


Home Ground
PEGS FC plays its home matches at the PEGS Sporting Fields, located on Wright Road in Keilor Park, in Melbourne's north-western suburbs. The ground sits on the campus of Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School and provides dedicated football ovals and facilities for both the school and the football club. Keilor Park is approximately 15 kilometres north-west of the Melbourne CBD, with easy access via the Western Ring Road and the Calder Freeway.


Community and Programs
PEGS FC is strongly connected to the Penleigh and Essendon Grammar School community, drawing its membership from former students, their families, and affiliated supporters from the Keilor Park, Essendon, and Moonee Valley districts. The club has a junior football arm, PEGS Juniors, which provides a pathway for young players from the school and surrounding suburbs into the senior VAFA competition. The Bombers maintain an active social football culture with multiple senior and third-team grades catering for players of all abilities and age groups.


Keilor Park
Keilor Park is a suburb in Melbourne's north-west, located within the City of Brimbank approximately 15 kilometres from the CBD. It is situated near the junction of the Western Ring Road and Calder Freeway, making it easily accessible from both the inner west and the outer northern and western suburbs. The broader Brimbank area is characterised by a diverse multicultural community and is one of Melbourne's most rapidly developing metropolitan regions. Keilor Park borders the suburbs of Keilor East, Tullamarine, Essendon North, and Calder Park.
