About Redland-Victoria Point Sharks Football Club
Origins and Founding
Redland-Victoria Point Sharks Football Club has its origins in 1966, when Mr Ern Dowling founded the club as the Victoria Point Australian Football Club. The club underwent several name changes over the following decades: becoming Victoria Point Redlands AFC in 1970, then Redlands AFC in 1972. In 2000, the Redlands club joined the elite AFL Queensland State League. In 2002, the club formally entered a sister club relationship with the AFL's Essendon Football Club, temporarily becoming the "Redland Bombers" and wearing Essendon's guernsey. In 2020, the club merged with the Victoria Point Sharks to form the current Redland-Victoria Point Sharks Football Club, which joined the QAFL competition in 2021.

Club History
The Sharks have accumulated an impressive honours list across their six-decade history. Their pre-AFLQ era premierships include South Queensland Football Association Division Two in 1975 and 1987, and Division One in 1998 and 1999. In the AFLQ State League and NEAFL era, the club made semi-final appearances in 2012 and 2013. The club's greatest achievement came in 2025, when they claimed their first QAFL premiership, defeating Surfers Paradise Demons 14.11 (95) to 8.9 (57) at Brighton Homes Arena. Notable alumni include Charlie Dixon (185+ games for Gold Coast Suns and Port Adelaide) and Ben Keays (150+ games for Brisbane Lions and Adelaide).

Home Ground
The Sharks play at Scottsdale Park in Victoria Point. The multi-sport facility supports not only the football and netball programs but also the club's cricket, softball, and fishing sections, making it one of the most diverse community sporting clubs in South East Queensland. Scottsdale Park provides the club with the infrastructure to host QAFL home games and run community programs year-round.

Community and Programs
Redland-Victoria Point Sharks is a multi-sport community club that fields men's and women's football teams in the QAFL, as well as junior football programs across the Redland City area. The club also operates cricket, netball, softball, and fishing sections, making it a true multi-sport hub for the Victoria Point community. The club draws its membership from across the Redland City Council area, which encompasses multiple bayside suburbs south-east of Brisbane.

Victoria Point
Victoria Point is a bayside suburb located approximately 33 kilometres south-east of Brisbane in the City of Redland, Queensland. With a population of around 12,000 people as of the 2021 Census, the suburb occupies a peninsula between Moreton Bay to the east and Hilliards Creek to the west. The area is known for its waterfront character, nearby island access, and growing residential community that has developed significantly since the 1980s.
