About Strathmore

Origins and Founding
The Strathmore Football Club, known to supporters as "The 'Mores," was founded in 1954 as a junior club, quickly building the depth and talent needed to establish a senior program. The club originally played at Raeburn Reserve in Pascoe Vale before relocating to Lebanon Reserve in Strathmore, where it has been based for decades. Strathmore affiliated with the Essendon District Football League (EDFL) and has grown to become one of the competition's most successful clubs.

Club History
Strathmore has won 11 EDFL senior premierships: 1981, 1984, 1989, 1998, 2005, 2006, 2011, 2014, 2021, 2022, and 2025. The 2011 flag was particularly memorable - the 'Mores entered as underdogs after losing the semi-final to Oak Park by 37 points, then won the grand final 11.15 (81) to Oak Park's 11.13 (79). The club has produced an outstanding list of VFL and AFL players over the decades, including Scott West (Western Bulldogs), Jackson Trengove (Port Adelaide), Ryan O'Keefe (Sydney Swans), Glenn Manton (Essendon and Carlton), Lance Picioane (North Melbourne and Hawthorn), Steven Clark (Essendon, Melbourne, and St Kilda), and Brian Wilson (Collingwood).

Home Ground
The 'Mores play at Lebanon Reserve in Strathmore, a well-appointed suburban ground that serves as the hub of the club's football and social activities. Lebanon Reserve (also known as Boeing Reserve) hosts senior, reserves, and junior fixtures throughout the season, as well as the women's program that has developed strongly in recent years. The ground sits in a residential setting 7 kilometres north-west of Melbourne's CBD.

Community and Programs
Strathmore FC fields senior men's, reserves, and women's teams alongside a thriving junior section. The women's program competes in the EDFL women's competition and has become an important part of the club's identity. The club draws its player base from the surrounding suburbs of Strathmore, Strathmore Heights, Pascoe Vale, Moonee Ponds, and Essendon, and is known for its strong culture of loyalty and community engagement.

Strathmore
Strathmore is a suburban residential area in Melbourne's inner north-west, located approximately 10 kilometres from the CBD in the City of Moonee Valley. With a population of around 8,980 at the 2021 census, it is a compact and well-serviced suburb with easy access to the Moonee Valley Racecourse, the Maribyrnong River trail, and the Essendon area. The suburb is characterised by established homes, leafy streets, and a strong community sporting culture that has underpinned the 'Mores for seven decades.
