Torquay Tigers Banners - Seven Decades of Surf Coast Football

Founded in 1952, the Torquay Tigers have been a proud part of the Surf Coast community for over seven decades. FootyBanners.com creates custom banners to help the Tigers faithful celebrate every milestone in the club's proud history.

Simple to Order

Choose from Single Player, Two Player, Team, or Grand Final banner options. Provide the player's name, surname, guernsey number, and milestone - for example, Coby Hansen, #16, 50 Games. Banners are printed with permanent inks on heavy-duty, weatherproof paper, ready for a breezy Surf Coast afternoon in Torquay.

Two Players, One Banner

When two Tigers reach milestones in the same game, our Two Player Banner puts both achievements on one standout banner. Just provide each player's name and guernsey number and we'll handle the rest.

Team Banners for Group Celebrations

The Team Banner option accommodates 3 to 6 players, making it ideal for end-of-season events and squad recognition nights. A top-line message like "Torquay Tigers - Surf Coast Proud" says it all. A brilliant way to celebrate the team together.

Wall Keepsake Banners

Available in Small, Medium, and Large, our Wall Keepsake Banners are printed on thick recyclable paper with waterproof inks. A lasting keepsake for the Tigers clubrooms or a supporter's home - something to treasure for years to come.

Grand Final Banners

Our Grand Final Banners come in 4.5m and 5.5m sizes, fully customised with top and bottom text for the Torquay Tigers. Contact us for design advice to make your grand final banner truly special.

About Torquay Tigers

Origins and Founding

The Torquay Football Club, known as the Tigers, has its origins in the post-World War II rebuilding of sport on the Surf Coast. While an earlier Torquay Football Club existed and was disbanded during World War II, the modern club was re-founded in 1952 when Geo McCartney established a junior program, with a senior side reformed in 1953. The club famously adopted its tiger stripes and nickname after being gifted second-hand jumpers from the Richmond Football Club. The Tigers' first premiership came in 1960, and they became a founding member of the Bellarine District Football League in 1971.

Club History

The Torquay Tigers have won 10 senior premierships: 1971, 1984, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1998, 2006, 2017, 2023, and 2024. The back-to-back flags of 2023 and 2024 represent the club's most recent period of dominance in the Bellarine Football League. The club has produced a number of notable VFL and AFL players, including Charlie Curnow (Carlton Football Club), Travis Boak (Port Adelaide), Robert Scott (Geelong and North Melbourne), Jasper Pittard (Port Adelaide), Dale Lewis (Sydney), and Peter McDonald (Richmond and Melbourne). The club was also the setting of the 2013 Australian film Blinder, which drew on the Torquay football community as its backdrop.

Home Ground

The Tigers play at the Torquay Recreation Reserve, a well-maintained facility in the heart of Torquay. The ground is a central hub for the local sporting community, hosting senior football, reserves, women's, and netball competitions. It enjoys a prominent position in town and is well known to locals as the home of Torquay football for over seven decades.

Community and Programs

The Torquay Football and Netball Club runs programs across multiple age groups, from junior football through to senior men's, women's, and netball competition. The club is affiliated with AFL Barwon and has strong links to the broader Surf Coast community. With the growth of Torquay and surrounding suburbs, the Tigers have seen strong membership growth and continue to be one of the most active sporting clubs on the Surf Coast.

Torquay

Torquay is a coastal town at the gateway to Victoria's Great Ocean Road, located approximately 22 kilometres south of Geelong and 97 kilometres south-west of Melbourne. With a population of around 20,000 residents, Torquay is internationally known as the birthplace of surfing brands Rip Curl and Quiksilver, and for hosting the famous Bells Beach surf break. The town is one of Australia's most popular beach destinations and sits within the Surf Coast Shire, attracting visitors and new residents year-round.

The Tigers compete in the Bellarine Football League and call the Torquay Recreation Reserve home. Follow them on Facebook and follow them on Instagram for match day updates.

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
