About Williamstown Juniors Football Club

Origins and Founding

The Williamstown Juniors Football Club was founded in 1963 as the Holy Trinity Boys Club team, competing in the Williamstown and District Protestant Churches Junior Football League - a new church-based competition established at a time when most organised junior sport was run through schools. Club founder Ted Hudson established the club and league from scratch. The club is proudly connected to the Williamstown Football Club, one of Australia's oldest football clubs (est. 1864), which competes in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Club History

The Williamstown Juniors claimed their first premiership in 1966 and transitioned into the Williamstown Juniors Football Club during the 1973 season. A key figure in the club's early decades was Bill O'Dwyer, who served as Sunday football clinic organiser, Secretary and Treasurer for over two decades before his passing after the 1985 season. The Bill O'Dwyer Award, given annually to the WFNL Best and Fairest vote-winner from the club, is named in his honour. The club's clubrooms at Fearon Reserve in Williamstown were officially opened in 1981. The Juniors have produced a number of players who progressed to senior football, including Daniel Giansiracusa (Western Bulldogs) and Jackson Barling, both of whom are listed among the club's alumni. The club competes in the Western Football Netball League (WFNL).

Home Ground

The Williamstown Juniors play their home games at Fearon Reserve in Williamstown, the same precinct as the senior Williamstown Football Club's DSV Stadium. The reserve sits within the beachside suburb of Williamstown in Melbourne's inner west, providing an outstanding community sporting facility for junior football. The ground has been the Juniors' home since the clubrooms were opened in 1981.

Community and Programs

The Williamstown Juniors field boys and girls teams from U9 through to U16 in the WFNL junior competition. The club has over 1,700 Facebook followers and nearly 1,900 Instagram followers, reflecting a strong and engaged community around junior football in Williamstown. Major sponsors include Allwest Concrete, Symal and Compton Green. The Juniors are a crucial pathway club for talent development into the senior Williamstown FC VFL program.

Williamstown, Melbourne

Williamstown is an historic bayside suburb located approximately 10 kilometres south-west of Melbourne's CBD, situated on the Hobsons Bay waterfront in the City of Hobsons Bay. The suburb is known for its heritage streetscapes, historic port precinct, sandy beaches and as the home of the Williamstown Football Club - one of Australia's oldest clubs, founded in 1864. Williamstown has a population of approximately 16,000 and retains much of its 19th-century maritime character alongside a growing cafe and arts culture.

The Juniors compete in the Western Football Netball League and call Fearon Reserve, Williamstown home. Visit the club website for more information, follow them on Facebook, and follow them on Instagram for news and match day updates.

    📄 Material & Construction

    • Premium Coated Paper (1.6 m high) printed with permanent, waterproof inks—won’t run or fade, even in wet weather.

    • Eco-friendly & Recyclable: All banners are fully recyclable when the celebration is over.

    • Durable weatherproof sports banners printed on heavy-duty coated paper - these banners are not made of crepe paper.

    🔧 Preparation & Run-Through Setup - Expert instructions for break-through milestone banners.

    • Rigging Your Banner

      • Tape broomsticks or PVC pipe to each edge to keep the banner taut.

      • This creates a professional “run-through” presentation for game-day moments.

    • Creating the Break-Through Slits

      • Vertical Slits: Cut small slits (20–30 cm long) in the centre—this engineered weak spot ensures a clean break when players burst through.

      • Wind-Proof Technique: On windy or rainy days, make multiple smaller slits so the banner doesn’t tear prematurely.

    💡 Tips & Tricks

    • Single Weak Spot: Some players cut only one slit to save and display the torn banner—repair later with clear tape on the reverse.

    • Logo Preservation: Position your slit to one side of the mascot or logo so your club’s emblem stays intact and can be retained afterwards for display.

  • Return and Refund Policy

As each banner is custom made, once ordered, we cannot return them.

Please check the details you submit for printing carefully, as we will make the banner using the exact spelling and information you provide.
